After brutal “Bachelorette” finale, fans say Jen Tran brother was the only good guy on screen
Tran’s brother, James, was praised for being vocal about his concerns for suitors and for his overall brotherly wisdom.
One man emerged as the fan favorite during Tuesday night’s “Bachelorette” finale. He wasn’t a contestant.
Bachelorette Jen Tran’s brother, James Tran, was declared by fans to be essentially the only stand-up guy on screen during the shocking three-hour finale. James began by grilling the men, then politely declining to give contestant Devil Strader his blessing on their marriage.
Strader broke off their engagement over the phone after Jen proposed to him on camera.
But James was praised by fans for trying to vet the contestants, for being vocal about his concerns for Tran’s suitors, and for his overall brotherly wisdom.

During the finals, Tran had to sit next to Strader and watch her propose to him in Hawaii after her relationship with fellow finalist Marcus Stroberg ended.
A tearful Tran explained to the studio audience that Strader had started to distance himself before calling off their engagement.
To make matters worse, the next day, Strader followed his “Bachelor” co-star Maria Gorges on social media, according to Tran. Many of the contestants who were cast before the bachelorette announcement said they initially thought Gorges would be the lead for this season. And fans have since criticized the show’s timing of the announcement.
The show did not respond to NBC News’ request for comment.
“He basically said he didn’t love me anymore and he didn’t feel the same way he did before,” Tran said of Strader. “He regretted getting engaged.”
